FRIENDS MESSAGES TO THE SPIDER-MAIL

Not exactly friends, but fellow bloggers I associate with mailed the editor(s) of Spider-Man (maybe just Steve Whacker) and had responses. Didn't know Robert J.Sodaro mailed the editor before reading "New Ways to Die" while I was looking to see if Reg's mail had an editor response (sorry Reggie; I didn't find your message in any of the currently published issues, maybe it is in the B.N.D tie in)

Steve Whacker's response is quite funny (Sorry Mr.Sodaro, but if it is any consolidation I often laugh at insults thrown at me), but that doesn't mean he isn't a JERK.

Read the response yourself and you'll know why the editor is a (why should I insult? One time is enough)

Heh, Bob blogged about this some time back.

I'm figuring he knows Mr. Wacker, so I'm thinking this was probably done in good fun. We'd have to ask Bob to know for sure.

Actually, guys, I don’t know Steve at all, and this was really our first communication, but I’ve been active in both fandom and as a pro in the field for, well more than just a couple of decades, so forgive me if I sound like I’m bragging when I say that folks in the industry know who I am.

(Besides, I did make quite a bit of noise at the beginning of the year when I very publicly slammed Marvel over OMD/BND in the online pages of Newsweek — you should Google it, or slip over to my blog and check out the link I have there to the story.)

Anyway, Steve and I started corresponding with that faux pas on my part. Since then I have mentioned to him that there were a couple of Spidey stories that I really did like (most notably the Ms. Marvel Annual, plus the Marvel Adventure Spider-Man & Super Heroes stories (which I review over at Spiderfan.org).

Needless to say. you are right, it is all in good fun, for while I love the character, I’m really not happy about the way he is being treated these days. Still, I refuse to leave, as I do believe that it will all get better starting with issue #600.
